I am certified by The Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice as a Lactation Counselor (CLC). The Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides a national certification program in breastfeeding and human lactation for nurses, physicians, dietitians, WIC personnel, peer counselors, independent lactation counselors and others.
Requirements to earn CLC designation include:
52 hours of training based on the WHO/UNICEF (World Health Organization/United Nations Children's Fund) Breastfeeding Counseling Training Course, that is worth a minimum of
3 college credits, and
Demonstrates the competencies and skills required to provide safe, evidence-based counseling for pregnant, lactating, and breastfeeding women.
